Biografia
Guilhem Touya is a photographer, born in 1991 and based in Paris. After studying at business school and spending several years working in advertising agencies and later in communications management, he chose to dedicate himself fully to photography.
Mentored in his professional development by visual artist Catherine Rebois, he has developed an artistic universe centred on nocturnal explorations in remote natural landscapes and the use of artificial lighting.
His work combines the visual precision shaped by his years in advertising with a sensibility influenced by science fiction – including Tarkovsky, Philip K. Dick and Jeff VanderMeer – as well as by a childhood spent close to nature. He transforms photography, traditionally a medium of memory, into a documentary narrative of anticipation.
Through a refined aesthetic, his images blur the boundaries between reality and fiction, inviting reflection on humanity’s place within its environment and on the ephemeral nature of civilisation.
Projecte
“Chromatic Dystopia” de Guilhem Touya és una sèrie fotogràfica nocturna que imagina un futur alternatiu en què la natura ha recuperat el planeta en absència dels humans. Touya s’endinsa sol en deserts, boscos i muntanyes durant la nit, utilitzant llanternes i filtres de color directament sobre el terreny (sense edició digital ni fotomuntatge) per il·luminar paisatges que semblen oscil·lar entre el col·lapse i el renaixement sota una llum artificial intensa.
Inspirada en els codis visuals de la ciència-ficció i en les inquietuds contemporànies sobre el canvi climàtic i la urbanització, l’obra qüestiona la nostra relació canviant amb el món natural — un món que avui pot semblar més distant, misteriós i, de vegades, amenaçador. En excloure la presència humana del quadre, Chromatic Dystopia convida l’espectador a preguntar-se si està contemplant un món desaparegut o una nova realitat salvatge que emergeix sense nosaltres, oferint una meditació poètica però urgent sobre el medi ambient, la percepció i els futurs invisibles que podem arribar a crear.
