France Leclerc

United States

Biography

France is a street and documentary photographer from Quebec, Canada, living in Chicago. She has spent many years in academia trying to understand why people behave like they do. Her photography, which France initially described as “life photography,” reflects this curiosity. She aims to capture a beautiful moment showing how people live, eat, dress, interact, celebrate, pray, and love… and the “streets” are where she finds these moments.
In recent years, France’s images have received wide recognition. She was awarded 3rd place at both the 2022 Miami Street Photography Festival and the 2023 LensCulture Street Photography Awards. Her work has been exhibited at the LensCulture exhibition in New York (2024), the Eyes on Main Street Festival (2022–2024), the Women Street Photographers exhibitions in New York (2020, 2025), and the Dublin Street Photography Festival (2025). She has also been a finalist at the Paris, Brussels (2024, 2025), and other major street photography festivals. Her work has appeared in GEO Magazine, Dodho, Lens Magazine, and All About Photo.

Statement

I have always been a traveler and a wanderer. Travel for me is not about vacations; it is my way to learn about a world that I care deeply about. There is nothing that energizes me more than to be in a foreign environment trying to uncover some of its secrets.
