Project

Dar Sebastian is my latest photographic project, created in the villa of George Sebastian in Hammamet, Tunisia. I explored the atmosphere of modernist architecture and Mediterranean gardens, bringing forward the story of a refined Romanian who lived in exile there between 1920 and 1962, almost unknown in his own country. The project was first presented in September 2025, in the exhibition at Cărturești Carusel, Bucharest.

Statement

My photography centers on the human presence within its surrounding environment. I am drawn to the peculiar aspects of ordinary life, seeking the surreal hidden in everyday moments – a dreamlike dimension created entirely from real elements. I explore both
the documentary and the poetic side of the image, where geometry, color, atmosphere, and emotion come together to reveal an inherent sense of wonder.
In Carnivale, a long-term project spanning more than a decade, I have followed faces, gestures, and rituals in fairs and local festivals, spaces where reality turns into spectacle. In Balneo and Leisure in the Working Class District, I look at how urban leisure spaces retain traces
of collective identity. In Dar Sebastian, I explored the personal imprint of an exile upon a house that later became a cultural landmark.
What guides me is the desire to create images that preserve both aesthetic intensity and emotional depth, restoring the fragile beauty and quiet strength of everyday life.
