F/262 – International Photography Festival is a biannual photography platform based in Caldas da Rainha and Óbidos, Portugal. Produced by ASSOCIAÇÃO F/SOS – Fotografia, Solidariedade e Obras Sociais, the festival is rooted in a commitment to cultural access, social responsibility and sustainable development.
Launching its first edition in 2026, F/262 is conceived as a long term cultural project that connects territory, community and international dialogue. Located in Portugal’s Centro region, the festival bridges local identity with global perspectives, presenting internationally recognized photographers alongside emerging voices and interdisciplinary contributors.
The program includes exhibitions in public space and cultural venues, artist talks, educational initiatives, screenings, portfolio reviews and community driven projects. By activating streets, historical sites, museums and civic spaces, F/262 ensures that photography reaches diverse audiences beyond traditional art circuits.
Inclusivity is central to the festival’s mission. The majority of its programming is free to the public, removing economic barriers to participation. The festival works closely with schools, young creators, local communities, senior audiences and underrepresented groups to create meaningful access to culture. Educational initiatives are designed to foster visual literacy, critical thinking and creative empowerment across generations.
Sustainability is embedded in both content and production. F/262 adopts environmentally responsible practices such as the reuse of exhibition structures, durable materials, reduction of waste and resource optimization. The festival is also committed to promoting environmental awareness through curated projects addressing themes such as territory, water, climate, social justice and collective memory.
Collaboration is a defining principle. F/262 partners with municipalities, cultural institutions, NGOs, environmental organizations and community associations, strengthening the connection between photography and civic engagement. Through these partnerships, the festival contributes to regional cultural development while participating in broader international networks.
F/262 positions photography not only as an artistic medium, but as a catalyst for dialogue, inclusion and positive social impact. By combining artistic excellence with accessibility, sustainability and cross sector collaboration.
