Paper Photo Festival (PPF) 2025 is a new international festival based in Katowice (Poland), which focuses on photobooks as an autonomous form of artistic expression, equivalent to exhibitions, multimedia projections, etc. Photobooks give creators greater freedom for uncompromising artistic expression; they are signed, limited edition, and numbered. Visual artists are increasingly turning to this form. The collectible value of photobooks can be comparable to that of “normal” works of art.
The program includes:
1 - Paper Photo Award - photobook competition (main prize: over €2,300)
2 - Paper Photo Dummy Award - dummies competition (main prize: over €1,150)
3 - curated exhibitions:
a) "Rules of Repetition" - exhibition of over 50 photobooks based on the repetition of a motif. The starting point is the legendary project by Bernd and Hilla Becher, but modern projects from recent years will also be presented.
b) "Private Narrations" - a photo exhibition exploring the influence of books on the work of Polish photographers
c) "BY BOOKS" - Belarusian photographic publications from the FSh1 collective library
4 - Paper Academy (art schools)
5 - premieres, meetings, lectures
6 - book fair
