Statement

Her artistic practice delves into the intersections of memory, transformation, body movements, interaction with nature, and cultural identity, often through experimental photography and, more recently, video animation. Combining mixed media, analogue, and digital techniques, her work challenges perceptions and invites viewers to experience a dynamic fusion of color, form, and movement, blurring the lines between reality and imagination.
Frequently, Parra’s approach to art centers on exploring the relationship between images, aiming to revive past works or offer new interpretations of existing pieces. This exploration manifests through photography, video, and painting, resulting in a highly experimental and emotionally resonant body of work.
Her academic achievements include a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Universidad Monteávila in Caracas, a master’s in Film Studies, Aesthetics, and Film History from Université Paris 8 Saint-Denis, and a second master’s in Film Heritage from the same institution.
During a three-year artist residency at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris (2020–2023), she collaborated with fellow artists, enriching her practice within an artistic studio and showcasing her work in various exhibitions.
Internationally, Parra has participated in group exhibitions in Venezuela, Paris, and the Netherlands, contributing photography, short films, scrapbooks, and installations. Her passion for experimental cinema is evident in her use of photo animation for videos. Currently, she is working on a photography mixed-media installation based on a recent residency in Greece and developing an experimental documentary focused on gender identity."
