Biography
Bruna Cases Gendra (Barcelona, 1999). Holds a degree in journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a postgraduate degree in photojournalism from the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia (IEFC).
She has received three Journalismfund Europe grants — among them The Erasure of Traditional Fishermen and Empty Cities — and is currently working on a new investigation about food fraud in Europe. She was a finalist for the Joana Biarnés Grant (Photographic Social Vision) and was selected for the NYT Portfolio Review
In recent years, she has focused on documenting the climate crisis in the Mediterranean, where she has specialized in maritime and fishing environments, working underwater doing submarine photography and embarking on the high seas. Her work combines investigative journalism, human rights, and photojournalism.
She has been a member of RUIDO Photo since 2022, where she produces in-depth photographic reports and designs and presents funding proposals for investigative journalism projects. She is a regular collaborator with the Reuters agency, covering breaking news, daily assignments, and sports events. She combines agency work with long-term projects.
As a speaker and trainer, she has participated in festivals and conferences such as Internazionale, IPI Congress, and DIG Festival, leading workshops for professionals on how to photograph the climate crisis and develop solid informative pieces.
