Biography
Carla Helmbrecht is an Art Director and multidisciplinary researcher. She lives and works in Barcelona on creative direction projects. She trained as an architect at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. She completed the Master's in Design and Art Direction at ELISAVA in Barcelona and the Mention in Research postgraduate course at ISEC Lisbon. Since 2018, she has expanded her training through workshops led by photographers Antoine D’Agata, Rodrigo Gómez Rovira, Sarah Pabst, Ayelén Koopmann, and Suyai Otaño. She was part of Gabriel Orge's Manifiesto Alegría Experimentation Collective, the International Photography Festival of Valparaíso (FIFV), and was a selected artist at Romina Resuche's WABI SABI Residency. She currently develops her own work using photography as her main tool and explores themes of memory, landscape, and identity. Her research lines focus on the intersections between archival and artistic practices, iconology, and design culture. Through the project Cuanto Abarcan los Ojos, she collects images and investigates the expressive codes that establish an aesthetic link between spatial and object forms.
