Carolina Arantes
Brasil
"Carolina Arantes, a Brazilian photographer who has become a naturalized French citizen, divides her time between Brazil and France and works internationally. Her major works explore contemporary existential experiences, as well as the ways in which colonial history continues to shape private life, democracies, and the environment today.
By combining in-depth research into real-life stories with cinematic influences, her documentary work presents the banality of everyday life as if it were staged, as part of a theatrical scene.
Carolina is an explorer for National Geographic and has received several grants and awards. As an artist-in-residence at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Carolina has collaborated with the museum on numerous projects. Her work is part of public collections and has been featured in renowned international media outlets."
