Biography
Her work focuses on the contemporary reinterpretation of vanitas through a wide variety of alternative photographic processes, including gum and casein bichromate, cyanotype, salted paper, vandyke brown, argyrotype, chrysotype, palladium, chemigrams, chromo, mordançage, lumen prints, and combinations among them. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in more than 130 exhibitions and featured in more than 90 publications. She is the author of six books published and distributed in more than 40 countries, including The Experimental Darkroom, Digital Negatives with QuadToneRIP, Demystifying QTR for Photographers and Printmakers (co-authored with Ron Reeder), Cyanotype, The Blueprint in Contemporary Practice, also published in French, Salted Paper Printing, and Gum Printing and Other Amazing Contact Printing Processes. She is editor of Focal Press Routledge's Contemporary Practices in Alternative Process Photography series and Professor of Photography at Montana State University.
