Daniel Hojnacki

Biography

American visual artist and photographer born in 1989 whose practice focuses on the experimental use of the camera apparatus and alternative printing techniques to explore the materiality of the photographic process. His work investigates the experience of observing the world, recording the movement of the body and the natural environment through performative gestures and situations of controlled chance. He holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia College Chicago and earned an MFA from the University of New Mexico in 2022. He has received recognitions such as the Penumbra Foundation Workspace Artist in Residence, the Patrick Nagatani Photography Scholarship, and the Phyllis Muth Arts Award. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the University of New Mexico Art Museum, and the Chicago Cultural Center, and published in Aint Bad, Pamplemousse Magazine, Southwest Contemporary Magazine, and Conveyor Studio Mercuria Ch.4. He lives and works in Chicago.
