The artist Flora Fanzutti questions the limits of the photographic medium and seeks to establish connections between surface and depth. Going beyond the surface, she tests the limits of images in order to reveal the inherent porosity of the frame. She considers photography a dynamic and subjective material that allows for dialogue. This transformed relationship with photography manifests itself through manual and physical interventions on the support, embracing accidents and chance to guide the artistic process. By working directly on photosensitive materials, Flora plays with the concept of loss in order to discover new territories. She works from Lyon, France, where she has established her laboratory in a former caretaker’s house in the heart of the city.
