Javier Talavera, born in 1988 in Madrid, holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Photography and is a telecommunications engineer, a combination that has shaped his artistic practice and methodology. Focused on the relationship between our bodies and their representation, his work revisits portraiture through multiple and non-fixed approaches to what we are, working around principles of representation close to anonymity. His projects engage with fragility and impermanence, both of life and of the materiality of images, generating tensions between apparently opposing forces: the figurative and the abstract, the living and the dead.
