Joshua Curry
United States - Germany
Biography
Born in the southeastern United States, he led a nomadic life that took him across the South and as far as California. His first photographs were of friends skateboarding, capturing fleeting expressions of life. He studied photojournalism at San Francisco State, where covering the Rodney King riots gave him a deep understanding of the power of still images. He returned to the South to complete his education at the Atlanta College of Art, where he was exposed to the wide possibilities of what photography can be. Over the years, he moved between journalism and fine art, receiving recognition for both. Teaching photography workshops to street children in Haiti from 2010 to 2014 was a transformative experience. His most recent work is abstract and evocative, exploring a personal vision that goes beyond mere information.
