Lluís Estopiñan

Biography
Visual artist trained at Escola Massana in Barcelona whose practice has developed since the late 1980s in painting, analog photography, and installation. His work reflects on the changing perception of existence, with special attention to memory as an essential part of identity. Process occupies a central place in his work, understood as a territory where gesture, time, and experience accumulate. He works with anonymous photographic material such as negatives, old prints, and found objects, which he manipulates and recontextualizes through techniques such as cyanotype, liquid emulsion, and collage, reclaiming the physical, the fragile, and the tactile in the face of digital dematerialization. His work has been exhibited in cities such as Paris, Osaka, Kyoto, London, New York, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Manizales, Madrid, and Barcelona, and in festivals such as Panoràmic, the 20/20 Photo Festival of Philadelphia, LensCulture Discoveries, Tbilisi Art Fair, Photopatagonia, the International Image Festival of Manizales, InCadaqués, and Revela’t. The series ReVers received a special jury mention in the LensCulture Art Photography Awards and the BIPA 2019 Best Portfolio Award, while Disclosed Memory was selected for the Royal Photographic Society's International Print Exhibition IPA159. Both series were finalists for the Vila Casas Foundation Awards.
