Lucia Calabrino

Biography

Experimental visual artist with training in fine arts and experience in international artistic residencies. Her practice explores alternative photography through techniques such as cyanotype, pinhole photography, solarigraphy, emulsions, transfers, embroidery, and textile intervention, in dialogue with painting and other languages. She combines analog and handcrafted procedures with contemporary resources, developing artist books, garments, and interdisciplinary projects. Her recent research addresses the relationship between image, matter, and memory, working with family and contemporary photographic archives, cartographies, and connections to territory. Her notable projects include ATÁVICO, centered on Italian migration in Argentina and family memory, presented internationally in Argentina, Italy, France, and Spain, as well as Mirada de Mujer and Roma a Brazos Abiertos. Her work seeks to open new readings through experimental and unconventional processes.
