Millee Tibbs

Biography

Millee Tibbs is an artist whose work arises from her interest in the ubiquity of photography and the tension between its truth value and its inherent manipulation of reality. Tibbs is Professor of Photography at Wayne State University in Detroit. She holds an MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has received two MacDowell Colony fellowships, as well as multiple artist residency awards nationally and internationally. Her work has been published by the Humble Arts Foundation in New York and the Aperture Foundation, and is included in the permanent collections of the George Eastman Museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Chrysler Museum, the Portland Art Museum, and the RISD Museum.
