Biography

Pau Coll Sánchez (Badalona, 1983). Studied photography with a specialization in photojournalism at the IEFC (Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia). Since 2005, he has been a photographer and founding member at documentary photography organization RUIDO Photo, where he is currently one of its coordinators.

As a photographer, he has produced and published various photographic reports and documentaries in countries such as Algeria, Nepal, El Salvador, Niger, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Guatemala, always working on human rights issues such as migration, social conflicts, and environmental crises. He has also developed various participatory social photography projects, particularly photography-based intervention in prisons throughout Catalonia.

Pau has been awarded several prizes, including the Manos Unidas Photojournalism Award (2024), the Saliou Traoré Award for journalism in Africa (2022), Best Ibero-American Book at Pictures of the Year Latam (2012), and the EFE agency's Objetivo Abierto award (2009), and has been a finalist for the Gabriel García Márquez and Alexia Foundation grants.

For his documentary ADENTRO, he won the award for Best Spanish-Language Documentary at the DocumentaMadrid Festival (2017) and Best Project at the Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival (2018). He has produced other short films, such as Wangala, and participated in about twenty international film festivals.
