Ryder Booth

Biography

Visual artist and photographer in training whose practice centers on the relationship between nature, people, and experience, understanding the image as a form of attention and care. His work grows from a deep connection with landscape and natural environments, exploring what we understand as natural and how it filters into everyday life. He works with analog and digital photography, with special interest in landscape and portraiture, and has progressively oriented his practice toward slow formats such as large format and alternative processes. In recent years he has incorporated cyanotype and laboratory experimentation as ways of slowing down the photographic act, prioritizing presence, observation, and trial over visual immediacy. He is currently studying photography and graphic design, developing a practice based on visual storytelling, the materiality of the image, and an attentive, reflective work ethic.
