Biography
Wai-Hang Siu is a photographer whose work explores society and the photographic medium itself. His practice, deeply rooted in history, reflects a Hong Kong worldview, addressing both traditional photography and contemporary digital work. Siu’s subjects are often intertwined with his reflections on the power of the medium. He has received several awards, including the FORMAT Patron Award 2023, first prize in the Hong Kong Photobook Dummy Award 2021, and the Hong Kong Human Rights Art Prize in 2018. His work is part of major collections such as SFMOMA, The New York Public Library and M+ Museum. Siu’s works have been exhibited internationally, including in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and Taiwan.
