Now in its third edition, FotoFest Colombia presents RIVERS AND MEMORIES, a curatorial project born out of the need to reflect on the relationship between water, territory, memory and community in a global context marked by environmental crisis and the rapid transformation of ecosystems.
The world’s rivers today face profound challenges: pollution, extractive mining, damming, deforestation, the displacement of communities and the loss of biodiversity. Many territories are experiencing a progressive disconnection from water and from the cultural memories that have historically emerged around it. Against this backdrop, RÍOS Y MEMORIAS proposes photography as a tool for listening, memory and the construction of collective dialogue.
The 2026 edition aims to bring together photographers, visual artists, collectives and national and international community initiatives working on narratives of water, riparian ecosystems, territorial memories and the communities that inhabit and protect rivers.
The festival will feature travelling exhibitions, displays in public spaces, workshops, creative labs, talks and community gatherings that will connect different regions and audiences through contemporary imagery. The programme aims to integrate rural and urban initiatives, promoting cultural exchange and the circulation of diverse perspectives on water-related territories.
